It’s Time to Seek, Understand and Know the Lord!

Do You Have a Relationship with God?

“Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24- but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”.” -Jer 9:23-24 (ESV)

We live in a fast-paced world and the days seem to be whizzing by like a fast moving train. We go here and there – to work, to shop, to play, and then back home to eat and sleep. The next day we recycle the previous day’s events and regimen. But when as Christians do we just stop and get alone with Almighty God? No distractions and no one else around? When do we as so-called Christians take (make) the time to seek the Lord in prayer and communication creating an ongoing relationship with Him?

Friends it’s time to quiet yourself before Him (Psa 37:7), continue in constant prayer (2 Th 5:7), meditate on His word (Psa 19:14) and let Him speak to you through His word – the Bible. Seriously and in full honesty – how many of us actually do these things? Great men and women of the Bible did and drew close to God, loved Him and obeyed His word. Do we?

The verse above (Jer 9:23-24) says that we can have boastful wisdom, be a mighty person in strength, honor, wealth, but these are not what the Lord looks for. He says that we should understand and know Him for in this He delights. Is this not the bottom line to our Christianity? It’s not about how many times we attend church or do good things. It’s about our relationship with our Creator God. Do we strive to stay on that narrow road despite all the pressures of this life to push us off onto the wide road that leads to destruction (Luke 13:24; Matt 7:14)?

Are you serving God and the Lord Jesus Christ or are you serving Christianity and all the things that this present world and church define it as? We need now to focus in on developing a rock-solid relationship with our Father in heaven. This is of utmost importance. This is were our faith is created, strengthened and established. This is about who we rely on now and when the really tough times hit.

So is your faith in Christ built on your rock-solid relationship with Him or on your church attendance, listening to the music and the sermon and seeing all your friends there? Is it more about optics that a deep spiritual relationship with Jesus? Don’t get me wrong, it’s fine to attend a good Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church but please examine why you attend church in the first place. It is about being entertained, seeing your friends, talking the dribble of the world or it it solely about seeking the Lord in worship and truth?

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” – John 4:23-24 (NASB)

It’s time friends to get right with God and develop a sincere love of your heavenly Lord and Father. We must focus our worship in spirit and in the truth of Him. Which brings me to the question, again we all must face – how often do we read His word, the Holy Bible? This is how He speaks to us. If you are serious about developing a true relationship with the Lord you will read His word (provided you’re in a country that allows His word to be available). The flip side of this fact is, if you don’t, putting it off for this excuse or that, your Christianity is in vain, fake and only in name only. Therefore in light of these words being said, it’s time for all of us to reassess where we stand in Him, where our faith is, where our hope and trust is and return to Him with sincerity of heart in truth. One day we will stand before Him, are you ready if that days was today?

Shalom and amen.

“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?” -2 Peter 3:11-12

The Loveless and Mechanical Church of Ephesus – Rev 2

The Church Who Lost It’s First Love

“But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5- Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent..” -Rev 2:4-5 (NASB)

Take a moment and read Rev 2:1-7. Then read it again and reflect on what happened to them…

Unbelievable!

Tragic!

Yet so applicable for the day we live in right now. Not only for churches but for all of us that identify as followers of Christ – real Christians. What I’m about to say applies, IMO, to the church and individual Christians – this is how I see it.

We can do and say all the right things and look good on the outside but the Ephesus church had a fatal flaw. Their church looked good and people were busy with the things a church is commended to do. But then Jesus turned from His commendations for what they were doing to the single most critical condemnation. The loss of their “first love”!

They were commended for “deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people“. Looking from the outside, these church-goers had it seemingly and outwardly together. Yet they did not and were in danger of having their lampstand removed or their church removed from existence! But none of them saw it. How similar to many, many of our Christian churches today!

AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ – Mark 12:30 (NASB)

The church that crossed all the “t’s” and dotted all the “i’s” no longer had the greatness of Christ as being number one in their lives. They gave their lives to other things, lots of busyness and a new set of what was important to them. They had adopted a mechanical faith in Christ.

It’s amazing that a church like the one at Ephesus being surrounded by paganism, worldliness and false teachers, could see the evil and falseness of their teachings but not call out the false teachers. Not to correct any of the false doctrines preached. Or even not to confront these heretical preachers and teachers and contend for the faith (Jude 1:3). Today, their are tons of false teachers in our churches, teaching doctrines of convenience, wealth, health and many other worldly things. And their congregations are swallowing it hook, line and sinker. How pathetic and sad.

So putting it all together, can you see what happened to them and what’s happening in our day…?

They lost their first love for the Lord! They substituted their works and looks for loving the Lord.

Friends, how many of the churches we attend today are in the same condition? How many go to church to be seen by others, to go hear a happy, non-convicting sermon, hear the pretty music or choir, or hear unGodly loud (ear shattering) rock music? How many come out of church more tired than they went in? Folks, please consider these things and if any has fallen away from their first love in Christ, to restart, regroup and realign their lives back to loving Jesus, loving Almighty God as their first and foremost priority in this life. According to God’s word we should – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt 6:33, KJV).

In conclusion then, it is good for us to do a self-examination to see if Jesus is still number ONE in our lives and our faith is built on Christ only and nothing else? I think the answer for all of us is a resounding – YES!

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:

The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this:

1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.

7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Are You Saved?

At the End of the Day, Where the Tire Hits the Road — Are You Saved?

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” -Isa 59:2 (KJV)

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 Jn 1:6 (KJV)

The world we are living in is becoming more troublesome, violent and dangerous by the day. Wars and rumors of war, lawlessness, Godlessness, wickedness and evil seem to inhabit every nook and granny of our lives. Even the church is not exempt from this onslaught.

Without question there is a tremendous spiritual war going on for the souls of men. Chaos, confusion, madness are becoming the norm yet most Americans are oblivious to the nasty things happening around them. One can only wonder where all this going and what will be the end of things?

Folks, God’s judgments are here and yet coming in mass. We can’t continue to sweep this under the rug anymore. We must face it head on. So I will ask all of us … are we saved? Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you professed Him as your Lord and Savior? Do you pray daily? Do you seek His face for wisdom, understanding and direction? Does He know you?

If you died today, would your final destination be heaven or hell?

Too many of our so-called Christian churches never teach on this because it’s become a taboo subject. People can’t seem to handle the negativity of such questions. In other words, friends, people have turned a deaf ear to the truths of God as told to us in His Word – the Holy Bible. Too many seldom if at all, read it, study it and embrace its wisdom. There are tons of “soft” Christians that have little to no faith and seek out churches for mainly the social aspect of their Christianity. So sad!

But back to the question … if you died today, would your soul go to heaven or hell? This is a fundamental aspect of our faith and we must face it’s truth. The question/topic of today’s message is – Are you Saved? And if not, why not? The Scriptures tell us plainly to be saved we must – Rom 10:9-10 – to be born again.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” -John 3:3 (KJV)

This is how we get to heaven – the only way (Eph 2:8-9). There are absolutely no other ways but by Christ

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” -John 14:6 (NASB)

Jesus is the only way to obtain eternal life – there are no other ways to come to the Father. NONE!

So, the ten-dollar question again to all of us – Are We Saved Today? Are you…? Will you seek the Lord’s face today, and admit you are a sinner, then believe in Christ, profess His name as Lord and Savior, profess that He arose form the dead and He is Lord?

I highly encourage all of us to meet this question straight on and answer sincerely. Then pray, on your knees, if you can and proclaim Christ as Lord and Savior of your heart, mind and soul.

Friends – seek His face today!.

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.  4- Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

And then remember …

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22- Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23- Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’:” -Matt 7:21-23 (NIV)
